SAN CARLOS (Week 25)

Dear Fam bam,

How are things going for everyone?!?! Wow!! Emily is in Ghana..... that is so weird, and Jason leaves today for Washington.  Everyone is doing so many things! I love hearing all about it.  Annnnnnd so many people are leaving on missions from our ward!! Love it.

Well this week has been quite the week. We are here in San Carlos! We got here, and went straight to a meeting with our DOM who is really involved with all the missionary work.  We went home planned a little and looked at what we had, and then ran to buy some food cause we didn't have anything. Well that night we were feeling very overwhelmed and right when we walked in the door we just started crying and our planning was like an hour long.  But we are ok now :)

Thursday: We were studying and our district leader called and shared a scritpure with us cause he knew we were struggling and he shared with us moses, about Adam and Eve and when they got cast out and it was like the Ultamite White Wash, it was cool. And then...We got to work! we had lessons planned for every hour and some for the half hour it was crazy, we were running everywhere! And we had an awesome member, E., accompany us. She actually came with us every day and she has such a strong testimony, she is 44, and she will be working this week, but she is always asking how she can help us. We had a lesson with a new, G., and it was amazing.  She was really opened and liked everything about the gospel, we invited her to be baptized and she told us she wants to talk with her husband and hopefully they will both be interested!! And then that night we also got to meet J.. J. is in like his 60's and like the only problem is he drinks wine... but we but a date with him for the 3 of may because he has already come to church and everything, so tonight we will see if he has been drinking, because to be baptized you have to have not drinken for a week.

Friday: We met M. S.  She actually has a pretty interesting story.  She met the missionaries in 1995 and has a Book of Mormon from then.  She really believes and wants to be baptize she just has problems with coming to church and worshiping images.... she's got a lot of pictures in her house and statues haha..... but she is awesome, and it was really scary to go at first because she told the other sisters that because they were leaving she didn't want to listen, but she is very open and happy to see us.  We are going to but a fecha with her soooooon!! We also had a lesson with a girl named M., who is best friends with the Bishops daughter and reallllllllly wants to be baptized, the only problem is her parents, they won't allow her to, so we'll see on that. But we had a great lesson with her, and we all bore testimony about the Book of Mormon and how it is very important to read and gain a testimony and at the end we asked her if she would read it and she was like yes! I want to have the same feeligns you all have when you read it!! And we invited her to be baptized too, for the 17 of May.  And something interesting with her is that she had never been to church, only mutual and baptims so we invited her to go to stake conference with us.......

Saturday: The other sister (San Carlos B) Moved in with us for a bit as their house gets fixed, so really it's only Hermana Talbot and I in the house, except for this week.  So we did that and studied and had time to run to one appointment and talk to a really good couple in the street who we are going to go visit this week.  After that we went to stake conference annnnnnnd surprise! President and Hermana Cook were there! It was very good.  First we had a meeting just with the missionaries and DOM's (missionary leaders? I don't know what it is in English), and then after we had the night with all the adults, and it was super good and different.  It was like a question answer thing... where they asked like converts to share their stories and about missionary work, and they showed this super good video, it is actually the third time I have seen it on the mission now, and dad it is the same thing you sent me from Elder Holland, Salvation was not a cheap experience, and that, wow, the Spirit was so strong.  Sorry I don't have my notes with me but it was super good.

Sunday: We went early to Stake Conference cause we had a meeting with President Cook about what we learned, and then we had Stake Conference and pretty much him and all the leaders spoke and it was really good.  On Sunday we had another lesson with M. and she likes to talk sooooo much, but it was good, and she had read Moroni 6 and asked some good questions and wanted to understand everything. And we had a meeting with our DOM that night and yeah!

NOW!!! San Carlos is doing good.  And we are doing really good too.  The first night I think we were just really overwhelemed and didn't know what was going to happen and it was hard cause neither of us can understand perfectly, but I think we were focused too much on ourselves.  Because really this is the Lord's work, and when we dived into the work, it was great, and we are working hard. But really it's not us, it's the Lord.  He is helping us so much, he knows we need the help and we are trying to do his will and do all we have learned and then just share the gospel with everyone.  And then we also need to rememeber Christ.  He has been down this same road, if I thought this week was hard just image Christ. Remember him.  He went throught so much.  He is a lot great, and suffered a lot more.  He is my Redeemer, and he knows what I'm going through.  He is with me every step of the way helping us.  Confide in him.

I love you all so much!!!! Thank you for the support, and I'm praying for you! Love you!

Love,
Hermana Louder

P.S Look up this video it is really good, they showed it at cambios, sorry I don't know what it is in English. mormon.org/graciasael

Feliz Pascua! AND the news we've all been waiting for!... (Week 24)

Dear Family,

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful easter and could enjoy church, and remember everything Christ has done for each and everyone of us, annnnnnd eat candy of course :) We had a nice dinner with a member and they had this huge chocolate egg and were like happy easter! and then smashed it! hahaha it was a little scary.... Oh and all the Hermanas, us, sang in church, and one of the sweet Hermanas in the house, Hermana Eddington bought us a little treat.

Emily and Jason. WHAT??? Where are you guys going? so Emily is going to Ghana, please be safe. And Jason has an internship in Seattle, what does this mean for him?

Congrats Heidi on your mission call!! Texas is wonderful :)

The news we've all been waiting for: TRANSFERS! Well I can't believe it but I will be transferring.  I will be going to San Carlos A tomorrow, with Hermana Talbot and I will be finishing her training, and we will be in a white wash...... I am so nervous, but I know this is what the Lord wants and trusts us with His children, now we just need to get to work! (hopefully I won't forget to take pictures of the house right now before I leave).  This is just a little more east so it's father away from montevideo but it will be good, we are both very excited and shocked!

This past week we had an interchange and I went to Carasco with Hermana Zegarra, and their area they usually find 1 or 2 news, well we found 8 new investigators all so nice and welcoming! And we found a man, J., who speaks french, luckily I knew one sentence right dad? jajaja.  But it was super nice and we also ran to the beach because it was right infront of the apartment, and it was beautiful!!

I signed my residential papers yesterday... URUGUAYO!! :)

Well I can't believe I will be leaving Pando and all my converts and investigators, it all just seems so weird I can't handle it. And I will be leaving Hermana Ahern and she starts her last change, so I might never see her again.  She has been awesome! She has taught me so much and has helped me improve my Spanish and teaching skills.

Thank you for the emails, and it's so true the Atonement is for everyone, we need to use it daily. The Atonement has changed my life and continues to everyday.  It changes people.  Always remember that people can change and that the Atonement is here.  Christ already suffered for us, we need to do our part now and accept his sacrifce and use it and apply it daily. I love you all!!!

Love,
Hermana Louder

Week 23

Dear Family,

How was your spring break! I love the pictures and glad you got to hike the Y and gave some family time!

Our time schedule, well we wake up and exercise for 30 mintues, which I have gone running a couple of times, but no one really wants to :( and we study in the morning, but we do language study at night at 8 because our area doesn't have very much light.

I'm doing good.  I haven't had to use my sleeping bag yet, but yesterday I wore leggings and tights and a scarf and my rain coat and a sweater and was still a little cold so winter is going to be interesting :) Oh and we watched conference in the stake center with the zone.

This week has flown by! And just a side note, next week are cambios so I won't have p-day until Tuesday, oh and I will also be signing my visa next Monday too!

Well not too many things are happening, I forgot my journal of notes from studying which is bad cause I wanted to share something I learned!.... and can't remember ha oh well! But things are going great here.  Of course we have investigators moving and other new investigators every day.  The work is always going here.

There are tender mercies of the Lord when we try our hardest! I know this! This past week we worked very hard and did our best to talk to everyone, and we talk like 30 (other) lessons and have 16 new investigators! Now we just have to visit them all again and get them going and share with them the gospel!

This past week we were leaving the church from an acitivity and the other sisters were already outside talking to everyone and they were talking to a woman.  Well we came out and they called us over and were like she lives in your area and she is great! So we talked to her for a bit and set an appointemnt for the next lesson.  When we went we taught her about the Plan of Salvation and then committed her to be baptized for the 26th of April! And then we invited her to church and she was a bit scheptical.... well we passed for her on Sunday and it was a rainy day and told us she probably wasn't going to come because of the weather but would see.  So we go to church and it's right after the sacrament that we look back and right there is Blanca! She had come just in time to partake of the sacrament and then listen to all the talks, it was good.  Yesterday we also did a little bit of exploring.  We thought we were talking the right road but it ended up not being a road we had ever been down and there weren't many houses or people, so every house we knocked to see if we could teach them.  We decided we should start to head back and as were walking we decide to knock one more house.  And this lady answers and she is Catholic but will listen and so we taught her and set another appointment.  I know that if  we are doing our best the Lord will bless us and help us along the way.

Thank you for everything, and I love hearing that you are all doing good! If there is anything I can do for you, or you want me to do, let me know! I love you all so much! And.... share the gospel with everyone :)

Love,
Hermana Louder

Week 22

Dear Family,

General Conference was amazing!!! I loved it so much and it came and went so quickly.  I was fortunte enough to listen to it all in English.  There is just something about listening to it in your language and hearing their voices.  There wasn't really one talk that stood out to me, but everything single talk had something I needed to hear, which was amazing.  When we have questions and ask the Lord He will answer (espcially if General Conference is soon ;) ).  No but it was awesome! I hope you all enjoyed moms homemade cinnamon rolls :)

I loved the General Women's Meeting and really what I loved the most was it was so focused on convenant women and how we are all daughters of our Heavenly Father.  The Spirit was so strong right when it first started and the song, I definitely needed that reminder. Remember the convenants we have made and try to be more Christlike!
Remeber everyone is a child of God, everyone needs to be reminded that too, and lots of times God will work throught us to help them realize that.

General Conference:
Elder Holland: Wow. The missionary story.  That is all....Stand firm to the faith, DEFEND YOUR FAITHS.  When he was talking I could remember back throught the years the many times I stood up for what I believed in, mainly with movies clothing and music, but everything.  And I'm grateful for the wonderful parents who raised me who helped me to have these standards and understand the importance of sticking to them.
Elder Neil L. Anderson: Sometimes you have to stand alone. Always stand up for what you believe in.
Elder Robert D. Hales: OBEIDENCE.  I really liked this talk probably more because I'm a missionary and we are all striving to be the most obeident we can be.  When we obey we are accepting His sacrifice.  Obey the Lord and his commandments.  Who wouldn't want to hear our Heavenly Father say: ¨Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord¨  Make the deep personal commitment to OBEY.  Why would we choose to be disobedient if we really knew all the blessings we could have?
Elder W. Craig Zwick: Whew,  This one hit hard, espcially we are having some communication problems in our house.... But we need to listen to everyone and ask what they are thinking.  Try to understand!
Elder Quentin L. Cook: FAMILY HISTORY and TEMPLE WORK.  You all know how much I love the temple and family history work.  I hope that you can try to go to the temple often and do family history work, it will bless our family so much.

And I just loved the whole Saturday theme of being true disciples!

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf:  No one is immune to trials.  Be grateful in my circumstances! The choice is ours.  Rely on our testimony and look forward, have faith!
Elder M. Russell Ballard: Consisten Persistent Follow Up.  Man, we really need to follow up on everything and the Lord will not let us down.  (Parents I'm ready to hear what you learned from PMG :) hahahaha.
Elder David A. Bednar:  The Load.  Before the mission I don't think I knew what a yoke was.  Anyways.. We don't have to carry the load alone, Christ is hear to help us.  The Atonement enables us to do good and be good.  My Savior knows me and knows how to succor me..
President Thomas S. Monson: LOVE. Love is the very essence of the gospel. and forgiveness should go hand in hand with love.
Elder William R. Walker: Family history!!!..... I need to learn our family stories!

I don't have time to write about all the talks but it was a really good GC just like every single one is.  Not much else happened this week, but the weeks are going by so fast.  Happy 5 Months today!

I love you all and thank you for sharing with me what you learned :) Love you!

Love,
Hermana Louder
